My son has officially entered the terrible two stage of life and has become quite the professional in throwing temper tantrums! Here are a few of my personal favorites!
The Spine Cracker- This is accomplished by jumping as high as you can and then kicking your feet straight out in front of you. This way you are sure to get maximum impact when you land on your butt. Can be done at a standstill or at a run. Either way is sure to give you back problems when you are older!
The Bird- This is done by flapping your arms at your side usually to no avail....or until somebody like Dad finally gives in. (Mom is ruthless and cold hearted....she NEVER gives in to these childish tactics.....Never?????) The trick is actually flapping hard enough that you might actually take flight!
The Mule- This is achieved by kicking as hard and as often as you can until you get what you want.....(take note....this does not work in my household.....it usually gets you hard time in your bedroom.) This is done usually during diaper changing or dressing. Some kids just like their Thomas the train underwear....I guess!
The Fish- This is accomplished by flopping and flailing on the ground (like a fish out of water) until you get what you want.....this tactic also will end up with hard time in your bedroom at our house.
The Ear Burner- This is the cry of all cries! It burns your ears because it is so freaking loud! This is done by standing in place, tipping your head back as far as it can go, and opening your mouth as wide and as far as it will open. Then the tears start rolling of the ears and the wails start. This cry requires earplugs and another room....preferably a sound proof one!
The Biter/ Head Banger - This one is self explanatory! Usually these kids tend to get so mad they bite themselves or someone else. They also bang their heads on anything convenient! I personally know about this one....for some strange, odd reason....this was one of my forms of tantrum throwing when I was knee high to a grasshopper!
and last but not least (but my personal favorite)
The Chicken Ankle or Chicken Walk- I was a professional at this when I was a kid. I am sure I invented it or at least wrote the book on it! Ask my family and they will tell you they have never seen a better chicken walk in their lives! Lucky for me (knock on wood) my kids have not mastered this one yet! This is done by going limp in your ankle and knee areas and then walking. You have to flail yourselves around in circles and against whatever is convenient (i.e. doors, walls, dressers, tables) You are actually walking on your ankles and the sides of your feet when you do this. This form of tantrum is only to be done by tantrum professionals....Although it is highly intriguing to watch, I suggest nipping it the first chance you get! This is not an easy one to break!
